About Me

Welcome to my website. I am a rug enthusiast with a thirty year long connection to the world of tribal weaving. I began my journey restoring and cleaning rugs and was lucky enough to handle some great pieces and meet many knowledgeable and passionate collectors and dealers along the way.

My love of antique rugs is the primary purpose for my business which begins after a long career in the NHS. My aim is to have many beautiful things pass through my hands and learn from them. It is for me more a passion than a business.

I operate from my home on the west side of Manchester and people are welcome to come and view the collection by appointment or I can send more photos on request. I prefer buyers to see the rug in person if possible so they can get a full appreciation of the condition without any obligation to buy.

I can also source rugs from my contacts in the trade if there is something specific that you are looking for. Please feel free to contact me, I like nothing more than to talk about rugs so I am happy to oblige.

The Collection

In the main my rugs are all antiques with the exception of a few that probably stray into the early to mid 20th century. I always state the considered age of each rug clearly on the description along with a true condition report.

I only buy rugs that I love and I have a penchant for tribal rugs in particular rather than decorative furnishing ones. Tribal rugs have a certain magic that is rarely found in the pieces made purely for export although some decorative rugs are also very beautiful and I like to have examples of these too. I also have some bagfaces, cushions and the odd textile that I have sourced over the years. Cushions can be a way of having some tribal beauty at a lower cost.

I am an enthusiast, an obsessive perhaps. I like to give some background to each item listed along with my views on their individual beauty. I don’t have a large stock but there is a wide range of prices and types.
I love having these beautiful pieces in my home and this business is a means to indulge my passion which I hope to share with others. I would also reiterate that there is no obligation to buy.
