I often talk about the difference between workshop and tribal rugs and this is a very good example of the latter as it displays all of the attributes of a great tribal rug. The woollen foundation is loosely woven making the rug quite floppy. The allover pattern of large flowers has a lopsided and random look to it, the spaces being filled by the weaver with tree like motifs. The first row of flowers is also imperfect with one being truncated by its neighbour. As ever the design becomes more regular as the rug progresses. I love the look of this piece, the colours and the balance of the design. The simple narrow borders provide space for the field to breathe and show off its natural beauty.

Good condition with a little wear.
