Bijar rug, late 19th Century

Measurements: 168cm x 110cm (5'6 x 3'7)

70 Knots per inch

Price: £800

This isn't the sort of rug that would normally catch my eye but I fell in love with it at first sight and had to add it to my collection. The variation in the camel field gives it a hazy depth and the wonderful soft colours in the central medallion seem to float over the field. This is a stunning little rug that would enhance any room with its presence.

Condition:

I suspect this rug has lost it's side borders at some point but it has been neatly finished if this is so and the proportions still look great. There are some small areas where the pile has been reworked in a lighter colour, the variation already present accomodates this colour change well. The pile is generally quite low but the rug has been well cared for with good selvedges and finished ends.
