This is in my opinion a very beautiful rug, there is always something special about a plain field with good abrash as seen here. The central arabesque Garrus design on a deep blue field also has a wonderful archaic look. The blue spandrels contain some fascinating floral and geometric designs. The abrash in both the main field and spandrels creates an illusion of depth with the red field sometimes appearing closer and then retreating into the background depending on where your eye falls. Great rugs have longevity of interest, that is you can look at them for years and still see them afresh. This rug has that magic and stands out as one of the best in my collection.

Condition:

Quite low pile throughout although not to the detriment of the overall appearance. Like most Bijar rugs this is a densely woven and robust piece.
