There are certain rugs that I always look out for and this type of Bijar is one of them. I think many rugs benefit from a having a plain field particularly so when there is good abrash as is seen here. The abrash is particularly strong towards the top and has the effect of pushing the three bold medallions up. I love the light blue in the spandrels which contrasts with the deep blue of the medallions. This piece has it all for me, strong colour, great abrash and great condition. Note the small figures that sit between the top medallions. As is usual with Bijar rugs it is a very robust weave and will last at least another hundred years.

Condition:

Great condition with just a little wear towards the top edge.
