These old Bijar rugs always have a great presence, they display their quality and enhance any room. I love to leave a rug like this out in my house and absorb its beauty as I enter the room. They are also incredibly robust wit the warps sitting on top of each other and the wefts pulled tight across the rug. The central pink medalion filled with tendrils and flowers sits in a sea of herati designs on a deep blue field which is almost obscured by the pattern. There is some space at either end of the medallion where the field appears more open and acts as a backdrop to the large blue flowers that emanate from the centre. Note how they tie into the herati design joining everything together. These little details are the things that make rugs special and they should be appreciated. Simply a wonderful old rug.
Condition:
Some old moth damage and wear as expected for a rug of this age. Some warps knots are showing on the front and a little loss to each end.
