An example of one of the better types of Melas with a really strong design and some beautifully subtle colours. I love the random array of different shapes both in the field and the main border, this sort of rug has long lasting appeal and one can notice different elements or some quirk of design after many years of observation. The pale green in the inner border is filled with multi coloured cypress trees which culminate at two large stylised boteh. A very impressive piece.

Very good condition, some good repair to the main field where there appears to have been an old tension crease.
