I love Kurdish rugs and I particularly like these plain fields with simple ornamentation. They speak of authentic pieces made for use rather than commerce although that I know that might be a fanciful thought. The camel field holds three rows of flowers and a solitary tree, both of which are classic Kurdish designs. The two crude boteh borders flank the more colourful main border with rows of stars. A single weft is indicative of a northern Persian origin but the all wool foundation points to tribal rather than a workshop piece. A great little rug that I would happily use in my home if I didnt have a hundred others.

Condition:

Good condition, the pile down to the knot bases in some areas but still a very robust and usable rug.
