This is an unusual rug. I initially called it Kurdish which was a rather vague attribution. I have now decided on on North west persian based on construction, there is a single weft between each row of knots which is typical of this region. The warps are cotton but the wefts are wool. The pile is remarkably silky and the construction robust. The border isn’t one I have seen before with rows of mutli coloured peacocks and the central field is equally unusual. A very interesting rug and one that requires more investigation.
