These Dosmealti rugs made in the Taurus mountains are rare and wonderful things. I always find good Turkish rugs interesting because the palette is so unique and the designs fascinating. This is no exception with its asymmetric pattern containing stylised scorpions in a complex red lattice which holds all of the field elements together. The pure indigo blue recedes into the distance while the white bordered scorpions jump out at you. There are three main borders, the central one a subtle apricot with camels picked out in different colours including a lovely aubergine. This is a collectors rug, a very beautiful example of the type. There is a reason that this has graced my dining room for three years but it is time for change and to let this beauty continue its journey.

Condition:

A little wear to the kelim ends with some small holes, otherwise fair condition
