I always find Ersari pieces attractive, they don’t perhaps have the technical expertise of other Turkoman weaving but they are always bright and colourful with wool that glows. This is a good example that lights up when you roll it out, the sheen of the wool is accentuated by the bands of abrash in the red field. The twelve crudely drawn guls vary markedly in size and squash up against each other. There is a soft blue and green that freshen up the overall palette. These chuvals make great little rugs and in the right setting they look stunning, I simply can’t get enough of their rustic beauty.

Condition:

Some old moth damage and a few old repairs but generally fair condition.
