Ersari chuval, circa 1900

Measurements: 89cm x 150cm

64 Knots per inch

Price: £150

I am always drawn to Ersari pieces. They perhaps lack the technical briliance of Tekke and other Turkoman weaving but I find the designs beautifully spacious and the colours rich. The abrash on the red field catches the eye as it progressively lightens towards the top. The guls become smaller at the top also creating a false perspective. This is often seen on Turkoman pieces and is quite deliberate. Despite its poor condition I think this is a very attrractive piece.

Condition:

To be honest this is a mothy old thing with plenty of old moth damage and some loss to the elem end. The price reflects this.
