Feraghan rug, circa 1900

Measurements: 148cm x 118cm (4’10 x 3’10)

72 Knots per inch

Price: £100

Am inexpensive little Feraghan rug with a bright disposition and a robust cotton foundation. I like to have some more affordable pieces in my collection. This generally means you have to accept some wear or other condition issues, the one thing that shouldn’t be sacrificed is the look and this still has some charm despite the wear to the central field. These cotton foundation rugs are very strong and this piece could bear any amount of traffic. The central field shows the herati design typical of Feraghan rugs.

Condition:

Low pile with a band of heavy wear crossing the centre. The selvedges could do with overcasting at some point.
