A delightful little Hamadan of better quality and colour than most of this type. For once the border dominates the field with its rows of medallions on a bright white ground. I find it interesting that no attempt was made to work the design around the corners which is always a difficult task, the weaver in this case decided to keep it simple and I actually like this look. The central field design is typical of this type but the corners of the inner field are unusual give the look a freshness with a large floral design protruding towards the main blue field. These rugs are always sturdy and can bear some serious traffic, I always say you can park your car on these pieces but they do deserve better.
