This is quite fine for a Hamadan and the quality of the wool is better than most. The design is standard for a hamadan but again I find the drawing of the motifs better and I particularly like the cream central medallion which brightens what could have been quite a dark rug. The spandrels appear to contain a portion of a similar floral medallion edging it’s way into the picture. The border is pleasingly complex with the main motifs linked by mutliple tendrils weaving their way around each other. A very fine little antique rug for the price.
Condition:
Some old moth damage to the pile mostly at the edges. I will strive to repile this when time allows. but for now the price reflects the condition.
