Isphahan rug, early 20th century
Measurements: 205cm x 139cm (6’9 x 4’7)
225 Knots per inch
Price: £580
This is a classic workshop rug from the city of Isphahan. As can be expected the knot count is high which allows the weaver to draw this complex design. Despite my preference for tribal rugs I am always captivated by the older fine workshop pieces such as this. The dark blue field shows off the design which is dominated by soft reds and gold tones which are beautifully balanced. The overall look is of quality and age which is main criteria for a good antique rug.
Condition:
Quite worn but not to the detriment of the overall look.
