Jaf bag, second half 19th century

A well drawn Jaf bag with a strong presence. The paler diamonds that slip under the border are dominated by their reciprocally hooked blue and red neighbours that draw the eye in. Sometimes it is hard to describe what attracts me to a piece but I think here it is the contrast between the soft madder red and strong indigo that I find so pleasing. The borders are classic Jaf as is the offset knotting that allows the diamonds to be drawn so well. This is a little glimpse into infinity and a window to the past.

Condition:

Good condition with just a little loss to the top.
