One of my favourite saddlebags to come in this year. I love Kurdish rugs and trappings for their rich colours, soft wool and vibrant designs. The most common design on these pieces is an allover diamond pattern with reciprocal hooked motifs inside. The borders frame the field as if capturing a single snapshot of this infinite design. On this piece it is as if the camera has zoomed in and we see a close up of the hooked diamond which now reveals many layers that hint an infinite design within the motif. These are magical pieces and typical of the type of weaving that first captured my interest in this field. I think this is a remarkable piece for its condition and artistry.
Condition:
Excellent condition with just a little discolouration to the yellow in the centre.
