Here is a neat little Caucasian rug with a strong geometrical design. The field is covered in large coloured octagons containing reciprocal hooked motifs on a brown background. The main meandering border stands out against the two minor borders which are often seen on Shahsavan or north Persian rugs. The colours of the octagons appears quite random as do the small diamonds that sit between them.
The reciprocal hooked motif is one of my favourite designs and is seen on rugs from across the near East which is probably indicative of its great age.
This is a very usable and attractive rug with a bold look,
Condition:
Good condition with medium to low pile, quite a robust piece.
