Karaja rug, early 20th century

Measurements: 123cm x 66cm (4’ x 2’2)

63 Knots per inch

Price: £280

Karaja rugs are popular pieces for their strong designs and rich colours. This one is typical of the type with a central hooked motif flanked by rectangular medallions picked out in a soft blue. These little Karajas improve any room with their bright aspect and busy design. The cotton foundation makes them durable pieces and helps them sit flat too. I particularly like the contrast between the soft madder red and the bright blue. An attractive decorative rug at a reasonable price due to condition.

Condition:

Some wear and a little loss to the ends. One end has a nibble out of the corner.
