When it comes to decorative workshop rugs there are a few types I tend to focus on and Kashan pieces are one of them. This one attracted me because of the strong abrash in the blue field. I think abrash creates depth in a rug which in turn can change the aspect of the room it sits in. Vintage rugs lack this magic and for me it is essential that my rugs have interest and effect. I find this one quite hypnotic to look at with the symmetrical sprays of flowers surrounding the large vases at either end. It is a finely knotted example with good colours and soft wool. A high quality piece with a strong look.
