These central Anaotolian rugs have a distinctive palette with a bold pink cochineal, soft greens and a bright orange red. The wool is soft and the weave loose. The red and white stripes that flank the field are also typical. This is a great example with lots of interest and a wonderful look. On first sight the colours appear unusual and even a little garish, however I find they work well together especially the subdued light green which balances the bright pink. Having left this rug out for few days to inspect it in different lights I fell in love with its soft beauty and then slowly I began to see how rich the red was in the striped border and how well the meandering floral border worked on the yellow background. It is for me a very special rug that I always delight in rolling out.

Condition:

Excellent with just a little corrosion to the black knots and one area where there may have been a burn. Neither detract in any way from its beauty.
