This is one of the more affordable pieces. It isn’t the Ardebil and it does have some synthetic dyes but I think it has a look of great age and a naive beauty. Turkish rugs always seem to have peculiar and interesting palettes and this is no exception, note the drastic colour changes seen in the main border and the mihrab. This is most likely different dye batches deployed as the weaver works their way up the rug. Who would think that you can have an antique handmade rug for half the price of an ugly new one.

Condition:

Quite worn with some moth damge, repair etc. The selvedges need replacing.
