This is a really lovely rug, Kurdish rugs always have some magic and this one really excels. The field has hints of Tibetan design although I am sure this is quite accidental. The allover design is striking being both consistent in pattern but varying in colour as you travel up the rug. The diagonal stripes stand out when the rug is seen as a whole but disappear when you focus on the field alone. The colours are wonderfully bright with a lovely green and aubergine, the latter indicative of an older date. A truly great piece with a soft floppy feel.
Condition:
The sides are in need of some restoration as are the ends. There is a glue stripe on the back at one end.
