This is a very decorative rug and one I am very fond of. The pale cream field contains an allover design of boteh and tendrils picked out in the softest hues. The dark border with its bold palmettes is quite a contrast and makes the perfect frame. Notice how the weaver has made no attempt to resolve the border design at the corners, this is quite common and I am always interested to see the compromise they make at this tricky juncture. Although quite thin, the cotton foundation provides some strength and helps it sit flat, this can often be a problem with woollen foundation rugs. Altogether a great looking rug and one that the interior designers would welcome with its light aspect and muted tones.
Condition:
Quite worn across the field with some thinner areas and old repairs, depsite this it is reasonable strong.
