These rugs from Northern Iran are good solid furnishing pieces with cotton foundation and short clipped pile. The bold serrated central diamond is their trademark but I always look beyond it to the rows of bright flowers that seem to recede behind the serrated design. There is some great abrash in the red which also creates extra depth. The white border is very pleasing and creates a calmer frame for the busy field.

Condition:

Good condition apart from the ends, one is secured by a strip of material on the back and the other has lost some of the original plaited end.
