I often profess my love of tribal rugs over workshop pieces but one cannot ignore good Sarouk rugs with their finely knotted and beautifully drawn designs. The colours are jewel like on this one and combined in such dazzling arrays of designs that it takes the breath away. This piece oozes quality and demands attention. The rich red spandrels bank up to the deep blue field which is like a pool strewn with hundreds of flowers. The blue contrasts against the ivory central medallion with a central flower and tendrils reaching out to its border. The abrash in the main border is pleasing and the overall picture is one approaching perfection.

Condition:

Good condition but both ends have retreated some way and the price has been adjusted to reflect this.
