A rare and beautiful piece, this saddle cover from northwest Iran is very finely woven and has a breathtaking palette. The tone of the blue field is wonderful but it is surpassed by the sublime yellow that intrudes from the sides. Note the fine border that separates this from the blue field, a subtle touch but one that enhances the overall look. The red green combination is repeated in the innermost border. This is a serious collector’s item and a very fine piece.

Condition:

Evidence of old moth damage in the blue field with some repair which is evident from studying the back. The threads that appear in the central slit are new and added purely to maintain its shape.
