Shahsavan bag, early 20th century
Measurements: 50cm x 47cm
48 Knots per inch
Price: £60
A crudely drawn bagface with diagonal stripes containing stylised boteh. Note the drawing of the butterfly border often seen on kurdish and northern Persian rugs. It is so badly executed that it loses all form on the vertical borders. Despite this I think it has some charm and I like inconsistencies in my rugs and trappings.
Condition:
Quite worn in places with some staining.
