Shiraz was one of the main trading centres in southern Iran and its rugs reflect the weavings of the Qashqai and Khamseh both in colour and design. The term is generally used for later pieces with a rusty red, long pile and fairly crude weave. This piece has particularly long pile and a typical palette and design with flowers and animals scattered across the main field. A very tribal looking piece with a lovely floppy feel.

Condition:

Good condition, the ends will require tidying and stopping. There is a little wear in the borders.
