These rugs from northern Iran are always bright with soft blues and pinks, they often feature birds and this rug is unusual in that respect. The strong red spandrels contrast beautifully with the abrashed blue field and the light borders brighten the picture. As a confessed tribal rug devotee these rugs are a departure for me, they have to be good, to have something special to elevate them from the myriad of average pieces. This certainly does with it’s fine weave and pleasing composition.

Condition:

Very good condition with one flaw, a crease running diagonally across the pile at one end. The price reflects this.
