Here is a rug for those who love colour, it has some very beautiful tones particularly the soft green and aubergine, the latter often being indicative of an early date. The colour combination is sublime and I would certainly put this amongst my favourite pieces. The field design is normally seen as a border on Caucasian rugs, referred to as the crab border. I have never seen it used in the main field but I think it works well and allows the wonderful colours to be shown off. Note how the design is cut off by the border on the right hand side which gives the impression of the field extending infinitely. The multiple minor borders deserve some attention too, the white one plays it’s part in providing some contrast and framing the field. I could go on but I should let the photographs speak, a very beautiful rug.

Condition:

Very good condition with a little loss to the ends and a corroded brown.
