This beautiful 9 gul Tekke Torba represents the best of Turkoman weaving. It is incredibly finely knotted in glowing colours with a wonderfully well drawn design. One can understand why many rug collectors final destination is Turkmenistan, these pieces are of exceptional quality and the nuances in colour and design are subtle. I was attracted to the particular Torba by its light aspect, the madder red is fresh and the light blue details leap out and catch the eye. It never fails to delight me and is often the star of the show when I take someone on a tour of my stock. The older the better is a fairly safe rule with rugs and trappings, this Torba with around 200 years of age proves that point. A truly magnificent piece.
