Yomut Chuval, circa 1900

Measurements: 101 x 58cm

Price: £220

Yomut pieces aren’t generally as fine as some of their Turkoman neighbours but I do like the palette and design. The deep plum red is a trademark as is the reciprocal running dog border. On older pieces the guls decrease in size at each row which creates some perspective, this is rarely seen on later pieces and does feature here. This is a calm and unassuming piece but it has some quality and a good look.

Condition:

The selvedges are completely gone at present but I intend to restore them at some point, otherwise the condition is fair.
